Covenant Presbyterian Church began as a mission church of the Central Carolina Presbytery of the PCA. In 2005, a congregation of eight met for a home Bible study and soon moved to a two-room store front where the church soon grew and needed additional space. In 2007, the property at 217 Midway Road was obtained and construction began for the new church building. The church elected ruling elders in 2009.
In 2010, a new sanctuary was added and within five years the Lord graciously enabled the congregation to be debt free. Most recently, a church steeple was added in remembrance of the late Mrs. Betty Hatcher. Parishioners at Covenant have been gathered from many different denominational backgrounds to become a multi-generational church family that is warm and welcoming. Covenant’s focus is to know the Lord Jesus Christ and to make Him known in the local community, the city, and in the world. they are committed to the truth of Scripture and the gospel message that it presents.
The church supports missionaries in China through the PCA’s Mission to the World organization. Covenant is also supporting the planting of a church in Indiana through the PCA’s Mission to North America. The church annually gathers shoe boxes filled with items for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. Many opportunities for ministry in the local community are being planned as we help support “Feeding the Homeless in the City of Rockingham”
